New Zealand Fiesta Day fundraiser (August 28)

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Because of the involvement of thousands of individuals, hundreds of churches and many schools and groups Operation Christmas Child has grown beyond our imagination. We have been inspired by this growth and are now looking at how we can reach even more children with shoe boxes from New Zealand. This year the boxes from New Zealand will go to Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Our capacity to grow in New Zealand relies on building strong CONNECT teams who have the capacity to lead, pray, pick up and process shoe boxes and advocate on behalf of the children in need.

To inspire you and many others we are holding a Fiesta Day fundraiser on

Saturday 28th August 2010 from 10am
at the Samaritan’s Purse warehouse

We will share stories from recent shoe box distributions, stories of hope and how Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes open up opportunities and build relationships for local churches across the world.

We will also share the vision for the future
and allow you the opportunity to get connected with like minded people who care for children locally and globally.

You can also purchase items for your shoe box (tennis balls, skipping ropes, pens, pencil sharpeners and many other things). All items sold will help raise funds needed for Operation Christmas Child.

When: Saturday 28th August 2010 from 10am

Where: 6/32 The Concourse, Henderson, Auckland NZ 0610 [map].

Help us pack 8,000 shoe boxes for children in Haiti

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

As a follow-up to the disaster recovery effort 250,000 Haitian children will be given shoe box gifts by local churches and believers. Many of these children have lost their homes, loved ones, and even the few toys and possessions they held dear. We believe that God can use these simple shoe box gifts in the hands of local believers to bring them hope in their darkest hour and share the love of God in a very practical way…

Samaritan’s Purse Australia is excited to dedicate staff, resources and volunteers to prepare 8,000 of the 250,000 shoe boxes that are going to Haiti. Because of the urgency and timing of this project we are bulk purchasing suitable items to go in these boxes for each gender and age group.

Each shoe box will take approx 10 minutes to fill – so we have a task that will take 80,000 minutes (or 55 days) if one person was to do it – this is why we are asking for the assistance from you, your friends, family, church and or community groups to make a difference for 8,000 Haitian children.

When: 2nd August to 8th September 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Where: 41-45 Belmore Street, Ryde NSW 2112

Please contact Craig Jennings (NSW State Manager) on 1800 684 300 or email nsw@samaritanspurse.org.au to let us know when you are coming. Groups are welcome – we can take group sizes up to 60 people at the same time. Please let us know when you are coming as there is limited space in the warehouse.
